Check your Suomi.fi Messages regularly. Also make sure that you have added your current email address to your information. Doing so will allow you to receive notifications of new Suomi.fi messages in your email inbox. You will also receive push notifications of new messages if you have enabled push notifications in the Suomi.fi mobile application. E-mail notifications may sometimes end up in the junk folder or your mobile device may block the app’s notifications. For these reasons, we recommend that you check your Suomi.fi inbox regularly.
Do the following if you want to read your messages in the Suomi.fi Web Service:
Use your identification token to log in to the web service. Find the Identification button on the MessagesOpens in a new window. page. Select the desired role.
The service automatically lands in the Inbox. Click a message to open it.
If the message is part of a thread and you are viewing the messages in the Suomi.fi Web Service, the whole thread appears on a single row in the Inbox folder. The number in brackets next to the message heading shows how many messages there are in the thread. The Suomi.fi mobile application’s Inbox displays all messages in a thread as separate lines.
If you are using the Suomi.fi mobile application, you can read your message by opening the application.
Can’t open the message attachment?
If you are unable to open a message attachment, there may be several reasons:
Your device is missing an application required to handle the attachment. Mobile devices may need a separate application to open files. You can download the necessary application, such as a PDF reader, from the Google Play or App Store.
Your device has a default app selected for opening attachments that does not work. You can change the default app in your device settings. Changing the default app depends on your device’s model and brand. General instructions for Android devices can be found in the Android help pagesOpens in a new window. or for Apple devices in the iOS help pagesOpens in a new window.. You can also search the internet for more specific instructions for your device.
The browser you are using does not support the file format. You can try opening the attachment using another browser or a program intended to handle the file type. You can see the file format from the file extension and use it to find a suitable program to open it.
Too many files with the same name have been downloaded to your device. In some cases, devices limit how many attachments with the same name can be saved. Renaming or deleting old files from your device storage before opening a new one may help.
It is another kind of issue. If you cannot save the attachment to your device in order to open it and you are using an Android device, you can preview the attachment without downloading it in the Suomi.fi mobile app. Alternatively, you can log in to Suomi.fi Messages on a computer via the Suomi.fi web service (suomi.fi/messagesOpens in a new window.) and try to open the attachment there.
If you cannot open the attachment on any device, you can contact the sender of the message and ask them to resend the file to you in a different way.
If the issue concerns the use of Suomi.fi Messages, you can also contact the advisory service on Suomi.fi services. They can advise you on resolving the problem, but they cannot see the contents of the message or the attachment. If you contact the advisory service on Suomi.fi services, be prepared to provide the following details:
did you use Suomi.fi Messages in the web service or in the Suomi.fi mobile app
which browser you used, if you are using the Suomi.fi web service (such as Chrome, Safari, or another)
which device you used (Android, iOS, computer, and if possible a more specific model)
message sender
time the message was sent
attachment name
any error message you may have received
You may have received a notification of an unread message. The system will send you a reminder of an unread message if selected by the sending authority.
A new message may have arrived for a person or company on whose behalf you are entitled to act. In this case, the email message will state that a message has arrived for another person or company.
The sending authority can choose whether to allow replies in Suomi.fi Messages. If you have questions about a message you have received and it does not allow a direct reply, you can contact the authority that sent the message in another way.
The sender may send the messages as requiring a confirmation of receipt, i.e. as a verifiable service. Messages like this correspond to letters sent with an advice of receipt, which must be picked up from the post office.
You can confirm receipt of the message with the "Open and confirm message as received" button, which is displayed when the message is opened. When you confirm receipt of the message, Suomi.fi Messages will automatically inform the sending organisation.
