It is possible to authorise another person to use Suomi.fi Messages on your behalf. For example, if you are unable to manage your official affairs on your own, another person can read the mail that is sent to you. You can also activate the service on behalf of a minor. A legal guardian registered in the Population Information System does not need a separate authorization, handling matters on behalf of your own child usually works automatically. You can find more information about acting on behalf of a child at the bottom of this page.
If you use the service on behalf of another person, use the service through suomi.fi/messagesOpens in a new window. instead of the mobile app.
In the instructions, you will also find information on how a non-disclosure for personal safety reasons, guardianship, a change of personal identity code, and a person's death affect Suomi.fi messages.
You can grant another person the right to act on your behalf in Suomi.fi Messages. An e-authorisation can be described as an electronic power of attorney the details of which are entered into the national authorisation register. The person to whom you grant the right to act on your behalf in Suomi.fi Messages is called an assignee.
The assignee should always log into services using their personal token, i.e. as themselves. You must not use another person’s means of identification.
If the assignee has the right to act on behalf of another person, they must always first choose the person on whose behalf they wish to act after identification. After they have made the choice, the rights will be checked with Suomi.fi e-Authorizations. Other than that, using Messages is the same as when using your own inbox. An authorisation cannot be limited to e.g. messages from a specific sender; the assignee can always see the entire contents of the mailbox.
It is not possible to act on behalf of another person in the Suomi.fi mobile application.
If you want to authorise someone else to act on your behalf, you have three options:
If you want to authorise another person to deactivate Suomi.fi Messages on your behalf, for example if you are no longer able to handle matters electronically yourself, this can only be done with the authorisation Management of electronic messages.
Detailed instructions on granting an authorisation and acting on behalf of another person are available in the instructions for Suomi.fi e-Authorizations. You can grant and request Suomi.fi e-Authorizations with strong identification.
