Using mobile application

The Suomi.fi application is available for Android and iOS mobile phones and tablets. When you activate Suomi.fi Messages on the mobile application or you want to install the mobile application after you have activated Suomi.fi Messages, do the following:

Step 1: Opening the application

Download the Suomi.fi application from Google PlayOpens in a new window. or the App Store.

After downloading the Suomi.fi mobile application, open it on your phone or tablet.

Step 2: Identification

When you open the Suomi.fi mobile application for the first time, after logging out or exiting the app, you will be directed to strongly identify yourself. Identify yourself in the service using bank identification codes or a mobile certificate.

Step 3: Set the PIN and any biometric identifiers

After authentication, the application will instruct you to set a four-digit PIN that you will use to log in to the application in the future.

If desired, you can set a biometric identification method (fingerprint or face detection) that you can use instead of a PIN. The biometric identification method can only be set if your device allows and you have enabled it in your device settings.

Please note: If you are already a Suomi.fi Messages user, you can view your mailbox directly and skip the step below.

Step 4: Consent for using Suomi.fi Messages

In the following views, you will be asked to provide:

your consent for using Suomi.fi Messages
your email address - it must not contain any special Nordic characters
the language in which you would like to receive the email notifications of new incoming messages in Suomi.fi Messages.

During the activation, you will receive a confirmation message to the email address that you have given. In the future, this email address will be used to notify you of messages received in Suomi.fi Messages.

Step 5: Accepting the confirmation message

You will be sent a confirmation message from noreply@suomi.fi to your email.

Click the link in the message.

Please note that the link to the confirmation message will expire in 24 hours. If you do not make the confirmation by the deadline, you must start Suomi.fi Messages activation again from identification.

Step 6: Activation completed

You will receive the following message to your email: ‘Welcome to Suomi.fi Messages’. The message is sent from noreply@suomi.fi.

You can now start using Suomi.fi Messages and from now on, you will receive messages in electronic format from those organisations that use the service.

Always log into the Suomi.fi mobile application with the PIN you set during installation.
You do not need to log out when you stop using the app. The application will lock itself automatically after 30 seconds. You can lock it immediately by using the Lock application function.

If you log out of your device or exit the mobile application, all message content will be removed from the device. Before the next time you use the app, you will need to log in again and identify yourself, after which your messages will be available in the app again.

If you have not used the application for 120 days, or by no longer than 320 days, you will have to log in again using strong identification. Please note that you cannot use the application until you identify yourself again. You may also be prevented from receiving push notifications if the application has not been used for a long time.

Messages section > Your Devices

Device data will include the name of each device and the time at which the application has last been used. You can log out of the Suomi.fi mobile application on your chosen devices. If you re-enable the mobile application on the device where you logged out of it, you must identify yourself and set the PIN for the app again.

Suomi.fi Messages is a secure way to communicate with organisations that use the service.

The messages and attachments shown in the application are transmitted in encrypted form between the mobile device and the server.
The app requires permissions to use your mobile device’s photographs and other files, so it can process attachments included in messages.
The user is individually identified using strong identification. This means that you are the only person who can access your data.

If you break your mobile device or lose it, you can sign out of the Suomi.fi application either in the Suomi.fi web service or by using another mobile device.
