How guardians grant mandates independently to manage the affairs of a child

Guardians of a minor can grant mandates independently to manage the child’s affairs in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations if

all guardians have a Finnish personal identity code
all guardians entered in the Finnish Population Information System are able to use electronic services and they have the online banking codes, a mobile certificate or a certificate card required for Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.

The mandates are granted in the same manner as the mandates granted to manage one’s own affairs. However, the mandates must be validated all by guardians entered in the population register.

The granting of the mandate can be initiated by any of the guardians. If there is only one guardian, the guardian can grant the mandate alone.

Do the following:

Identify yourself into Suomi.fi e-AuthorizationsOpens in a new window..
Select Child's mandates as the service role and the underage dependant whose matters the mandate grants the right to handle.
Select Grant mandates.
Enter the person or persons as assignees who you want to grant the mandate to.
Specify the mandate categories and the mandate’s period of validity.
Validate the mandate on your part.

The mandates are valid only after all guardians have validated it for their part.

When you identify yourself into Suomi.fi e-Authorizations and select Child's mandates as the service role, you can see the mandates that are waiting to be validated on the To be validated by you page. On the To be validated by others page you can see the mandates that you have already validated, but that are still waiting to be validated by other guardians. When you click the name of the party, you can see the party’s mandates waiting to be validated and you can follow the validation of individual mandates by opening the mandate theme in question.

The person initiating the granting of mandates should inform the other guardians of the mandates that need to be validated, as they will only receive a notification if they have activated Suomi.fi Messages.

Mandates to be validated will be listed in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations for a period of six months after which they will be removed.

You can grant several mandates of the same type at the same time. There are four options:

You can add several assignees to a mandate if you grant everyone a similar mandate.
On the different pages, you can select multiple parties from the list and then grant new mandates to those selected.
You can place parties and mandate themes concerning previous mandates from different pages into the selection basket, and then move on to grant new mandates based on your selections.

Using the selection basket

You can place either parties or individual mandate themes (or both) from different pages into the selection basket. You can then grant new mandates with the information you have selected.

To use the selection basket:

Start using the selection basket on any page.
Select the parties. You can filter the list using a variety of different search criteria.
You can place parties to which you want to grant new mandates or the mandates of the selected parties in the selection basket, if you want to grant the same mandates to another assignee.
You can place additional parties or mandates in the selection basket from the same or another page before you move to grant mandates. Your selections will remain in the selection basket when you move to a new page.
After you have placed all the information you want in the selection basket, use this information to grant new mandates.
