Job alternation leave

You qualify for job alternation leave if you have an employment history of at least 20 years and have been working full-time for the same employer for at least thirteen months. Periods of parental and care leave, compulsory military or non-military service, and other special periods are counted as working periods for this purpose, provided that they account for no more than one quarter of your working history.

If you have already taken job alternation leave, then you may take it again after a further working period of five years.

On taking job alternation leave, you will be entitled to job alternation compensation amounting to 70 per cent of unemployment benefit.

To serve as a substitute for an employee on job alternation leave, the employer must hire a jobseeker who has been unemployed for at least 90 days over the preceding 14 months, a jobseeker under 25 or over 55 years of age, or a jobseeker under 30 years of age who has recently completed a university degree or vocational qualification.
