I am under guardianship. Who is allowed to act on my behalf?
This guideline has been written for someone under guardianship, but may also benefit their close ones. It describes who can act on behalf of a person under guardianship with or without a mandate, and how and in what matters a person under guardianship can grant mandates.
If you are under guardianship, your guardian can automatically act on your behalf in digital services for financial matters that check the right to act on behalf of another person from Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.
In other than financial matters, you must grant another person a mandate to act on your behalf in digital services. Your right to grant mandates may have been restricted.
The guardian can manage your mandates
Your guardian can independently manage your mandates in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations. The right to manage applies only to mandates concerning your finances.

The guardian cannot manage or even see mandates that concern your person. Such matters include health information and using the services of pharmacies, for example.
You can grant mandates in all personal matters and to a limited extent, in financial matters.
Your guardian may act on your behalf in financial matters without a separate mandate. Such matters include tax matters handled through the Tax Administration’s services, or matters related to vehicle taxation and registration via Traficom’s services. You can also grant mandates to parties other than your guardian, but you cannot grant mandates in matters that involve the right to change your bank account number.
Matters that concern your person include viewing health records or using pharmacy services. You can grant a mandate to either your guardian or someone else to manage your personal affairs.

There are two ways to grant mandates in Suomi.fi e-Authorizations:
You can only act on behalf of another person automatically or with a Suomi.fi e-Authorization in digital services that use Suomi.fi e-Authorizations.
For example, banks and insurance companies do not use Suomi.fi e-Authorizations. Always check the service to see if they allow acting on behalf of another person.
