Insurance for entrepreneurs

As an entrepreneur you must usually take out pension insurance for self-employed persons (YEL) or insurance under the Farmers’ Pensions Act (MYEL). They serve to accrue your pension and provide security in case you are unable to work, for example. There are special mandatory insurance arrangements for certain industries. If necessary, you can also obtain additional cover by taking out voluntary insurance for your business.

Note that almost all earnings-related social benefits are calculated on the basis of your YEL income specified in the YEL insurance policy.

If you are an employer, get the statutory insurances for your employees.
