Lay-offs

Lay-offs mean that, when the conditions laid down in the Employment Contracts Act are met, your company can interrupt the employee’s work and the payment of the employee’s wages, and your employee can interrupt their work. The employment relationship continues during the lay-off.

A lay-off may be:

  • Full-time (full interruption in the obligation to work and payment of wages)
  • Part-time (e.g. reduced work week or shorter workdays)
