National and local agreement on terms and conditions of employment

A collective agreement is a general settlement concerning the minimum terms and conditions of employment in an industry or type of work. Collective agreements are also made in the public sector.

These terms and conditions concern such aspects as wages, working time and holidays. Finnish labour laws do not cover all features of the working world, and many details may instead be settled by collective agreement.

The employment contract that you make with your employer must comply with the collective agreement for the industry.
