Activating a mobile certificate

Mobile identification is a service provided by Finnish mobile phone operators that works on all mobile phones.

In order to use mobile identification in e-services using Suomi.fi e-Identification, you also need an electronic identity, or mobile certificate, activated on the SIM card of your mobile phone.

You can activate a mobile certificate if

• you have a DNA, Elisa or Telia mobile subscription
• you have Finnish online banking codes, which you need to verify your identity in connection with the activation.

Please note that you cannot activate a mobile certificate if you have a prepaid subscription. If you have an electronic SIM card (eSim), check with your mobile provider to see if you can activate mobile certificate.
