Guardianship

A person may need a guardian if a serious illness or old age has weakened his/her capacity to protect his/her own interests or manage his/her personal affairs. A guardian is appointed by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency or a court. A private person or a public guardian can act as a guardian. The Digital and Population Data Services Agency provides guidance in the arrangement of the guardianship and supervises the work of the guardians.
