When you hear the alarm signal:
- Immediately go inside your home or the nearest indoor space.
- Follow the authorities’ emergency warnings and act according to their instructions.
- Stop ventilation.
- Close the doors, windows and ventilation openings and any other areas from where air can flow into the interior. Tape them shut tightly.
- Remain sheltered indoors until an authority announces that the situation is over.
Under normal conditions, people will not enter civil defence shelters when the alarm signal sounds.
In the event of a war, the signal is used to alert people not only about incidents but also such things as air strikes. In the event of a military attack, you must immediately seek shelter in the nearest civil defence shelter or the best available shelter. The authorities will provide additional information and instructions via emergency bulletins or other means, as appropriate.
