An offence or dispute may be mediated under the direction of a trained voluntary mediator. Mediation is voluntary and always requires the consent of both parties.
In mediation, the parties to the dispute or the person suspected of the offence and the victim of the offence can meet with the help of an impartial mediator. Mediation deals with the mental and material harm caused to the victim and aims to find a solution that is satisfactory to the different parties in order to compensate for the harm.
