Instructions for guardians who used Katso ID

If the guardian previously used the Katso ID to act on behalf of an adult who is under guardianship, the corresponding mandates can be registered in the e-Authorizations on the basis of an application.

Proceed as follows

1. Complete an application for the registration of the mandate

Enter the client subject to the guardianship as the assignor and the guardian as the assignee. If a guardianship office has been appointed as the guardian in the decision issued by the court or the local register office, enter the guardianship office as the assignee (name and business ID of the organisation).

As mandate themes, select only the mandate themes that correspond to the scope of the guardianship and the Katso roles.

2. Add the guardian’s Katso ID to the application

Write the Katso ID used in managing the matters of the person under guardianship by hand next to the assignee’s details (for example, “Katso ID: 123456”).

3. Sign the printed mandate application

The guardian signs the application.

If the guardian is a guardianship office, the authorised signatories of the organisation sign the application.

4. Submit the application for processing

You can submit the application for processing 

Attach the following to your application:

  • A copy of the guardianship decision issued by a court or a local register office
  • A copy of the passport or police-issued identity card of all signatories

If the guardian is a guardianship office, also submit a document proving the signatories’ authority to sign (e.g. extract rom the minutes of a meeting or other reliable account of the competence).

Once the mandates have been registered

The person submitting the application will be notified when the mandate has been registered.

If the assignee is a private individual (personal identity code), they can act directly on behalf of the assignor.

If the guardian is a guardianship office (business ID), the mandates for transactions have been granted to the organisation. For an individual employee (personal identity code) to be able to manage matters using the mandates intended for the guardianship, the organisation must grant the employee a mandate of the type mandate to represent. This mandate to represent must be granted for the same mandate themes as those in the registered mandates for transactions. See instructions for granting a mandate as a company or an organisation

When the guardian wants to manage the affairs of the person under guardianship, they must

  1. identify themselves for e-services using their personal identification tokens
  2. choose in the e-service acting on behalf of another person
  3. choose the person for whom they are the guardian.
