Support for marketing

Companies are usually responsible for covering the costs for their company’s marketing without external funding. There are few if any public sources of funding for expenses entirely intended for marketing. However, you should try to look into the possibility for case-by-case funding.

It is possible to get funding, for example, from Business Finland to make it possible for you to participate in international fairs and funding from some ELY Centres for developing your skills in planning your marketing. You can also apply for funding for marketing from some EU programmes.

Additionally, you can using include marketing expenses in publicly funded projects, but the costs must be directly related to the project in question.

You can also apply for funding from the private sector. For example, banks and other financing institutions grant loans.

Utilise the services and training provided by your region’s business development company in matters related to marketing and advertising.  When developing your marketing, you can ask for consulting also from ELY Centres. For more information on matter related to consumer rights, please contact, for example the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority.

In matters related to regulation, ask for case-by-case assistance from the authority responsible for the supervision of the matter. For example, you can ask for advice in matters concerning radio and television advertising from the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) and from Fimea in the case of the advertising of drugs.

Chambers of commerce and many media sector unions provider advice for their members. Questions can be related to matters such as the planning and implementation of marketing, communication legislation and marketing law. Marketing sector unions include, for example, Finnmedia, the Association of Finnish Advertisers and the Finnish Association of Marketing, Technology and Creativity (MTL).

For example, the Federation of Finnish Enterprises also organises marketing and communications trading and offers its members legal advice.
