To whom and on what terms
The parents may apply for a place in night and weekend care for their child if they work shifts or study in the evenings.
Care may be given to a child who has not reached the age of compulsory education.
Day care may also be given to a child who has already reached the age of compulsory education, if special circumstances so require and care cannot be otherwise arranged.
A fee is charged for the service.
Fees carried out for nonstandard hour ECEC are determined according to valid ECEC client rates.
A child who needs care in the evenings, during the night and/or in the weekends because of the parents’ work or studies can be given a place in night and weekend care. The municipality should organise early childhood education and care so that night and weekend care is available 24 hours a day if necessary. Parents do not have a subjective right to night and weekend care. This right is based on real needs arising from shift work or exceptional times of study.
Day-care centres providing evening care are often open until around 10 p.m. 24-hour day-care centres operate continuously on all days of the week.
If a child no longer needs evening or night care, he or she is transferred to daytime early childhood education and care. Night and weekend care may also be organised as family day care.
