To whom and on what terms

Clients receiving long-term family care from the Disability Services are mainly adults with disabilities who need support in their daily lives several times a day. Short-term family care is a way of implementing short-term care for underage children, which supports the child’s life at home.

Family care can be suitable for many kinds of people. However, it is not suitable if the person with a disability cannot control their aggression or if the person’s right to self-determination must be restricted in some way. The abundant need for care and treatment does not prevent the provision of family care, but it does require support services for the family carer and the person with a disability themselves.
