Employment subsidy for those aged 55 or over

The City of Tampere may grant employers an employment subsidy for the salary costs of unemployed job seekers who are 55 years of age or older and are customers of the Pirkanmaa local government pilots on employment. The employment subsidy can be used as assistance for in recruitment when:

Do the following

As an employer, you can apply for the subsidy electronically through the Job Market Finland platform, in the employer's and entrepreneur’s E-services of TE Services. Remember to apply for the employment subsidy well in advance of the start of the employment. Submit the application and required documents through the E-services’ service menu. In the service menu, the application is named "Employment support for people aged 55 or over." Built-in guidelines in the service will assist you in completing the application.

Apply for payment of the subsidy from KEHA Center according to the subsidy decision you receive through the service. Payment of the Subsidy is applied monthly for the calendar month when the pay period ends. You can submit the disbursement application within three months after the end of the employment subsidy period. National income registers are used in the payment process.

To whom and on what terms

The subsidy is granted for salary costs. As an employer, you must commit to pay a salary that is at least equal to the amount specified in the collective agreement. In case there is no such agreement, the employer must pay a standard and reasonable salary. It is important to note that employment subsidies cannot be granted for commission based salaries.

The employment subsidy covers 70% of salary costs, for a maximum of 10 months but no longer than for the duration of the employment relationship. Employment subsidy is paid up to a maximum of 1,770 euros per month. The employment subsidy can only be used for salary costs and cannot cover payroll related expenses or holiday pay. The employment relationship can only begin after the subsidy has been granted.
