Do the following
Apply for a driving instruction permit either at Ajovarma service point or in Traficom's electronic services.
Take identity card and your driver's license with you to Ajovarma if it was issued in another EU or EEA country.
You can get the driving instruction permit application on site, where it is filled out and signed. The application for a driving instruction permit does not need to be submitted to the service point in person, and both applicants to become a teacher do not need to be present, as long as the other applicant has a power of attorney. The application can also be initiated, for example, by a teacher or other representative with a power of attorney or by bringing a signed application form to Ajovarma. The authorized person's identity is checked.
A fee is charged for thedriving instruction permit when it is submitted. The price of an application submitted electronically in the My e-Services is 25 euros. The price of an application submitted in Ajovarma is 36 euros.
To whom and on what terms
- A person who is at least 25 years old can get a driving instruction permit to give driving lessons for cars, mopeds, microcars or motorcycles, as long as the teacher has held a driver's license corresponding to the lessons for at least 5 years
- In the teaching permit, the teacher and the student must be different persons, so you cannot teach yourself to drive
- The student must apply for a driver's license permit before completing the driving examination. The driver's license permit must be valid when reserving time for the driving test theory and driving test. However, you can start driving lessons even before applying for a driver's license permit.
The granting of a teaching license is also influenced by the teacher's personal characteristics

Period of validity
The driving instruction permit is valid for a limited period of time marked on the permit but at longest until the learner or the last of the two learners has passed the driving examination. Driving instruction permits for passenger cars are issued for a period of three years. For other vehicle categories, the instruction permits are issued for a period of nine months and no earlier than six months before the learner reaches the minimum age required for the driving licence in question.
