If necessary, apply for sick leave and sickness allowance

Make an appointment with a public health nurse or physician at the health and social services centre if you need treatment or sick leave. You can also complete a symptom assessment in Omaolo before booking an appointment.

You can be on sick leave also when you are unemployed. Apply for sick leave, especially when you are unable to apply for full-time work or participate in employment services due to falling ill.

If your illness lasts for more than ten days, apply for sickness allowance from Kela. For sickness allowance, you will need a certificate or statement from your doctor.
