Regional state administration

The following agencies, steered by ministries, are the regional administrative authorities of the state:

  • Economic Development Centres
  • KEHA Centre
  • State Department of Åland.

Economic Development Centres support regional development and the competitiveness of business life

The regional administration reform of 1 January 2026 established 10 regional Economic Development Centres on the basis of the previous 15 ELY Centres. The responsibilities of the Economic Development Centres include:

  • business advice, financing and development services
  • EU funding for regional and structural policy
  • business and employment
  • immigration and integration
  • rural development
  • fishing industry and reindeer herding.
