Special youth work is a form of youth work that focuses on supporting and helping youth in special circumstances, typically problematic ones. It is a form of support that is targeted and individualised, and can include, for example, help with discussions, activities in small groups, guidance in life management, and if needed, guidance with other services.
The target group for the specialised youth work is foremost 10–17-year-olds, who need support in difficult life situations. This can include problems with, for instance, education, relationships, family life, or drugs. Youth, who are at risk of becoming marginalised or already have become marginalised, are also part of the target group.
