Service location

The main library Metso is a well-known landmark in the centre of Tampere, located in the corner of Hämeenpuisto and Pirkankatu. Getting to the main library is easy on foot, by bicycle and public transport. The paid parking lot is located behind the library on the Mustanlahdenkatu side. The library has an accessible ramp leading from the parking lot to the main door.

The 4 accessible parking spaces are located outdoors over 10 m from the entrance. The width of the parking spaces is less than 3.6 m.
There are 4 parking spaces for persons with reduced mobility, located in the parking area on the Mustanlahdenkatu side, behind the library. There is no designated spot for drop-off traffic.
The route to the entrance is smooth and sufficiently wide and illuminated.
The building is circular in shape, and the entrances are located on the Hämeenpuisto side. You can walk around the entire building via a separated pathway that leads directly to the main entrance ramp and, on the other side, to the accessible entrance.

The entrance stands out clearly and is illuminated.
At the main entrance, there are uneven steps and occasionally interrupted handrails. On the left side, there is a ramp that curves along the building's wall. The automatic door opener button is located on a post to the right of the doors, as well as inside the vestibule. The accessible entrance is located about 15 meters to the right of the main entrance, in a recess of the building.
In connection with the entrance, there are at least 4 steps, with handrails on both sides.
The entrance has a ramp over 6 m long without an intermediate landing, with handrails on both sides.
The doors connected to the entrance stand out clearly. Outside the door there is sufficient room for moving e.g. with a wheelchair. The door opens automatically with an opening button.

The customer service point is on the entrance floor.
There are three accessible restrooms, one on each floor. They are located alongside other restrooms on each floor. The ground floor restroom is opposite the Kanerva and Kataja lecture halls (right-hand corridor from the accessible entrance). Gender-neutral restrooms are also located in the same corridor.
