A person who builds, repairs or maintains electrical installations, or repairs and maintains electrical appliances must be professionally qualified, and Tukes must be notified before any such operations begin. Do the following

Notifications concerning operations or changes must be primarily submitted online to Tukes. The e-services are only available in Finnish. For now, the form SL1 is used for notifications of lift works. A notification in Swedish or English is submitted with a printable form.

Information on all service channels is not available in your chosen language. Change the language of the site to receive information on service channels in other languages.

To whom and on what terms

The notification must include details concerning the operator, places of business and certified supervisor of electrical works. The person who is named as the certified supervisor of electrical works must give their consent for the task. The most central requirement for electrical contracting is a certified supervisor of electrical works, who oversees safety and has a certificate of qualification that proves their professional competence.

The certificates of qualification are issued by an assessment body, Personal and Company Assessment Ltd (SETI).

If the operator is established in another EEA state and provides services in Finland on a temporary basis, an application for a permit is required as is the case for operators established in Finland. The certified supervisor of electrical works must have a certificate of qualification issued by Personal and Company Assessment Ltd SETI.

If the details submitted in the electrical contractor's notice of operations change significantly, the contractor must notify Tukes. Such details include, for example, changing the certified supervisor of electrical works, change of an address, changes in the secondary places of business or change in the company type. Tukes must also be notified about the termination of operations. Notifications are submitted online.
