Vamia and Yrkesakademin I Österbotten offer vocational education in Vaasa.
The City of Vaasa’s new organisation for vocational education, Vamia, began its activities January 1st 2017. The new organisation consists of Vaasa Vocational Institute, Vaasa Adult Educational Centre and the regional apprenticeship training centre (Vaasan rannikkoseudun oppisopimustoimisto). Vamia offers 28 different vocational basic degrees. Vamia works in two units in Vaasa. The technical educations is arranged on Sepänkyläntie at the Sampo Campus, and the service industry education is arranged at the Hansa Campus on Ruutikellarintie.
There are approximately 2000 students at Vamia, and education is offered in Finnish, Swedish and English. The education premises and devices are modern and are being developed continuously. At Vamia you can choose your own studying paths according to your interests and future plans from six different alternatives. During the second or third year of studies you have the right to accomplish workplace learning abroad. If you are interested in competing, you can join the competition of professional skills. The studies are supported by versatile support services for students.
YA! - Yrkesakademin I Österbotten offer education in Swedish for both the young and old among others within the social sector, culture, work among animals and technology. Yrkesakademin I Österbotten is run by Svenska Österbottens förbund för utbildning och kultur (SÖFUK), which is a Swedish language education and culture federation of municipalities in Ostrobothnia.

The service is free of charge.
The instruction is free. The students incur costs that are specific to the selected field, for example for books, tools and materials.
Vocational education and training refers to vocational upper secondary education and training and vocational further education and training that lead to a qualification. Vocational upper secondary education and training leading to a qualification is intended for young people and adults.
In addition to their educational institution, students in vocational education and training acquire competence at the workplace and in online learning environments. Each student studies according to their own study plan and individual leaning needs. On-the-job learning is supported for example with apprenticeships. Application and completion of studies is flexible and studies can be completed in a shorter time than previously. Young people and adults are provided the same education and training services. Vocational education and training provide students with the competence and skills they need to apply for higher education studies.
Vocational education and training is provided by municipalities, joint municipal authorities, organisations, foundations or state enterprises that have an authorisation granted by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
