Veterinarian responsible for meat inspection and institutional control in slaughterhouses.
When setting up a new slaughterhouses, the operator applies for the slaughterhouse’s approval from the meat inspection unit of the Finnish Food Authority. When the slaughterhouse receives the approval and the approval number, the meat inspection unit of the Finnish Food Authority will arrange a veterinary inspector responsible for the meat inspection and institutional control of the slaughterhouse.
A veterinary inspector must have a licensed veterinary medicine licentiate degree in Finland.
