To whom and on what terms

You can get special services under the Disability Services Act if you have a long-term or permanent disability caused by a disability or illness that means you absolutely need support and help with your daily activities. These services and support measures are provided to you if you do not receive adequate and appropriate services under any other law. Disability services are intended to complement other social and health services.

Short-term care under the Disability Services Act is provided only where necessary. Necessary care is considered to be a situation where the carers are unable to take care of the child because of work or study and the care cannot be provided in any other way during this period. The primary responsibility for organizing care during the vacation period lies with the carers.

Vacation care is offered to children of compulsory school age if it cannot be arranged in any other way. The parents must arrange for the child to take a holiday during the summer. The parents must submit a certificate of employment or studies when applying. Note: From 1 January 2025, the service will be provided as short-term care under the new Disability Services Act and special care programs (EHO) are made no longer.
