If communication with the care provider does not produce the desired outcome, or if your questions are not answered, you can submit a written objection about the matter. You can submit the objection yourself using a form or by writing a free-form objection. Send the objection to Soite’s registry.

Background information

The Patient Ombudsperson advises health care patients on their status and rights. If a patient is dissatisfied with the care or treatment they have received, the Patient Ombudsperson can assist them in filing a complaint with the director responsible for health care at the patient’s place of treatment.

The Patient Ombudsperson also advises patients in situations where the conduct of health care staff gives rise to criminal or disciplinary proceedings. The Patient Ombudsperson provides guidance on how to initiate matters before the competent authority or body. They also advise patients on how they can apply for compensation from the Patient Insurance Centre.

Each health care unit must feature a Patient Ombudsperson. The same Patient Ombudsperson may work in several units.
