Support for the victims of sexual violence

At the Seri Support Centre, we help and support those who have experienced sexual violence. Seri stands for sexual offence (in Finnish: seksuaalirikos).

Do the following

You should go to the Seri Support Centre as soon as possible after you have experienced sexual violence. Call before your arrival. A nurse will advise you on what to do. If you have not showered after the incident, you should come to the Seri Support Centre without taking a shower.

If the incident happened over a month ago, you can seek help from your local health station, family counselling clinics of social services, student health care or through various organisations.

To whom and on what terms

The service is free of charge and intended for all persons over 16 years of age who have experienced sexual violence regardless of their gender. You do not need a referral to use the services.

Those under 16 years of age who have experienced sexual violence are assisted by the Medical Helpline and the emergency clinic. A paediatrician is responsible for the treatment at the emergency clinic.
