Fortification Trail

Service location

The marked Fortification Trail (1 km) runs through the Kivikko fortification rocks. Simply follow the signs and the blue trail markers. The trail includes height differences and difficult spots.

The area is protected under the Nature Conservation Act and the Antiquities Act. Please keep to the marked paths. Fortress trail is open outside of the skiing season. No winter maintenance.

Accessibility information

There are no parking spaces marked as accessible in the parking area and no information board. The starting point of the nature walk is more than 500 m away. The parking area is asphalted.
The pick-up and drop-off area is located over 500 m from the starting point of the nature walk.
The nature walk is one-way. The length of the one-way route is about 1 km.
There are no information boards along the nature walk.
There are signposts. The route is marked with a logo or sign affixed to the trees.
The nature walk is hard all the way but partly uneven (bumps). The surface of the passageway is in part fine crushed rock, stones and roots, boardwalk (planks across).
The route contains narrow places where wheelchairs or strollers cannot fit through.
The route has steep hills, the largest of which has 10 meters or more height difference from bottom to top (steepest angle of ascent more than 30 %).
The walkway has stairs with intermediate landings. The longest stairs have 30 steps or more, with handrails on both sides.
Next to the passage, there is at least one level difference causing a fall hazard, which is not bound by railings.
Along the nature walk, there are and a rest stop with benches for taking a break. The benches are sized for adults.
