At Hemma, respite care is always planned according to the family’s individual needs and wishes. The service package is agreed during a free consultation visit and can be reviewed later if needed.
During the caregiver’s respite, Hemma provides unhurried substitute home care in the client’s own home, giving the caregiver time to rest or take care of personal matters.

Contact Hemma’s customer service by phone or leave a contact request through our website. We will get back to you no later than the next working day to arrange a free consultation visit. During the consultation, we will review your service needs together and agree on the practical arrangements to ensure a smooth start.
Respite care can be purchased privately or with a service voucher, depending on the decision of your wellbeing services county.
Respite care is intended for family caregivers who need a break from caregiving or support for the person cared for, for example to allow time for work, hobbies or errands.
The service can be provided VAT-exempt if the client has a functional limitation that prevents managing the services independently. Eligibility for VAT exemption does not depend on age but is assessed by a professional during the consultation visit.
The service is eligible for a household tax credit in accordance with the Finnish Tax Administration’s guidelines, if paid privately. Please note that the credit cannot be claimed for the same work if it is covered, for example, by a service voucher. In addition, family caregivers may apply for a service voucher from their wellbeing services county to cover the costs, depending on local practices.
