Research activities carried out in nature reserves generally require a research permit. In addition, access to restricted zones, strict nature reserves, and areas where landing is prohibited also requires a permit. For example, a photographer may need an access permit.
Research and access permits for areas outside nature reserves are applied for using the same application form as for nature reserves.

A research permit can be granted when the research does not harm species, habitats, the management of the protected area, or its other uses. Method studies and experiments that may cause harmful or unpredictable changes in nature must be conducted outside protected areas. Granting a permit requires an appropriate research plan, which must be attached to the application.
Photography within nature reserves is permitted within the limits of access restrictions, provided that it does not cause harm or disturbance to wildlife or vegetation. For this reason, photographing animals at the nest is not permitted in nature reserves. Baiting or constructing structures solely for photography purposes is not allowed in nature reserves.
A permit issued as an official decision enters into force no earlier than 30 days after the decision, as there is a 30-day appeal period.
Research and access permits for areas outside nature reserves are applied for using the same form as for nature reserves. In such cases, the permit is not an official decision subject to an appeal period, meaning the application process is more flexible in terms of deadlines than for nature reserves.
