An operator must notify the municipal health protection authority of the supply and use of household water in the water supply zone.
When an operator only supplies household water, it means that they do not have their own water production or treatment. A typical example is a water cooperative that buys household water from elsewhere and supplies it to its partners.

Submit a written notification to the municipal health protection authority.
Submit the notification using the ‘Application for a plant supplying domestic water and notification of a water distribution area’ form. Submit the signed notification in duplicate to the department of environmental services of Oulu region.

If the operator is established in another EEA state and provides services in Finland on a temporary basis, they are required to have the same notifications as the traders established in Finland.
The notification must be made if you take water for the needs of at least 50 people or at least 10 cubic metres per day.
The notification must be submitted no later than 30 days before the operations are started.
The notification is processed within a month, after it has been received.
The notification is valid until further notice.
