Notification of suspected health hazard

For example, the conditions of day care centres, schools, educational institutions, sheltered housing, accommodation, indoor swimming pools, sports facilities, beauty care facilities and other similar facilities may not cause health hazards to their users. Health hazards may be caused by, for example, untidiness, cigarette smoke, temperature and ventilation problems, noise or indoor air particles, ...

Do the following

Notify primarily the owner or holder of the premises in question of suspected health hazards. With regard to housing, you can also report a suspected health hazard to the housing company or housing manager.

If the owner or holder of the premises does not take your notification into account, or if you disagree about the necessary measures, you can submit a notification to the municipal health protection authority.

If the suspected health risk is related to your own food business, report it via the ilppa e-service.

In the regions of Rovaniemi, Ranua, Pello, Kolari and Ylitornio, the notification is submitted to Rovakaari environmental health care.

In cases where there is a suspicion of health hazards in an apartment, primarily use the online form 'Apartment inspection request'. For further information and instructions see the Apartment Inspection service.

You can submit a notification of other facilities via the feedback service online, by e-mail or by calling the customer service phone of health control.

To whom and on what terms

If a person carrying on a trade is located in another country within the European Economic Area and provides services in Finland on a temporary basis, they are subject to the same obligations as a trader established in Finland.

Background information

Suspected health hazards may concern indoor air, cleanliness, temperature, humidity, light and noise in apartments or other facilities. Such facilities include schools, day-care centres, sheltered houses, swimming pools, gyms and beauty clinics.

Suspected health hazards must always be reported primarily to the owner or holder of the premises. If the owner or holder of the premises does not take your notification into account, or if you disagree about the necessary measures, the notification must be submitted to the health protection authority of the municipality in which the premises are located.

Anyone can submit a notification of suspected health hazard.
