Notification of operation of a refrigeration equipment company

  • Permit or other obligation
  • Nationwide
  • Public service

If your company works in the field of refrigeration, you must apply for an approval from Tukes, i.e. a refrigeration equipment company certificate, before the start of operations. Tukes may grant the certificate if your company has employed an appointed responsible person and at least one fitter who have adequate certificates of qualification and the required tools.

Do the following

The notification of operation is submitted on the e-services.

Before submitting the notification of operation, make sure that all the prerequisites for operations, i.e. the appointed responsible person and fitter, certificates of qualification and tools, are met. Also ensure that the certificates of qualification for the appointed responsible person and personnel are attached to the notification. Tukes will charge a fee even for a negative decision.

However, qualifications for the responsible person or the refrigeration equipment company certificate are not required in the following situations, where a certificate of qualification for the fitter is enough:

• installation and maintenance of refrigeration units of refrigerated trucks and trailers

• installation and maintenance of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment on ships and vessels

• installation and maintenance of electrical switchgear

• recovery of solvents.

To whom and on what terms

The refrigeration equipment company certificate cannot be issued if the operator has no appointed responsible person and a fitter, who meet the qualification requirements. If the appointed responsible person works as a fitter, they must also fulfil the qualification requirements for fitters. An operator located in another EEA state may provide their services in Finland on a temporary basis if the operator's qualification to use F gases has been granted in the state in question, in accordance with EU’s regulation on F gases.

The operator must submit a new notification to Tukes no later than three months after the responsible person has changed, or the operations have changed otherwise significantly.

Deadline

The notification of operation must be submitted before the start of operations.

Processing time

The processing takes usually 30 days.
