Integration activities for older people are intended for immigrants aged 65 and over who are within their integration period and living in Turku. The aim of these free group activities is to support participants in settling into their new home city, strengthen everyday life skills, and promote overall wellbeing and functional capacity.

You can join the group activities by attending the meeting locations directly or by contacting the activity coordinator in advance. Participation is free of charge and does not require an official referral.

The integration activities for older people are intended for immigrants living in Turku who are aged 55 or over. In the groups, participants practise basic Finnish language skills, learn about Finnish society and services, take part in physical activities, and spend time together. The activities have been specifically designed for older people with limited education or who are unable to read and write.

If you would like more information about the groups or wish to confirm meeting times and locations before attending, please contact the instructor responsible for the activities by phone or email, or contact the multilingual advisory service at International House Turku.

You can also take part in the activities following a recommendation from, or accompanied by, a family member, support person, or professional.

Take part in group meetings

At your first visit, the instructors will welcome you and introduce you to the group activities. Clear language, visual materials, and practical, activity-based communication methods are used in the groups, so you can participate even if you do not speak any Finnish yet.

Individual guidance when needed

In connection with the group activities, the instructors can help and guide you with everyday matters. If necessary, they can also direct you to other services, such as health and social services or activities provided by organisations.
