Do the following
In order to apply for a qualification certificate, the applicant must take an examination (qualification, examination) concerning the field. Experiments are organised by Inspecta Oy in the fire detection equipment and fire extinguishing equipment sectors and and SPEK in portable fire extinguishers sector.
Submit an application for a qualification certificate to Tukes with all necessary appendices. For those who meet the qualification requirements, Tukes will deliver a valid qualification certificate for the specified period and enter the person's qualifications in Tukes’ register.
Submit to Tukes the start-up notification required for the intended activities with the necessary appendices. Tukes will provide a confirmation of notification to the qualified company and enter it in its register of qualified installation and portable fire extinguisher companies.
Please primarily use the e-services. In the e-service, you can submit a notification of operations and changes as well as an application for a qualification.
To whom and on what terms
Before starting operations, the company must notify Tukes for supervision. The person responsible for the installation and maintenance of fire detection equipment and fire extinguishing equipment and portable fire extinguisher must have a valid qualification certificate for the area of operation in question issued by Tukes.
Appendices to the notification to start operations in the installation of fire detection equipment and fire extinguishing equipment:
- intended line of business
- extract from the trade register or similar (not required for e-services)
- a description of the equipment required for the intended operation.
If a trader is established in another country belonging to the European Economic Area and provides its services temporarily in Finland, the trader must have a Finnish business ID or the trader must be a legal person to whom national legal obligations can be imposed.
Deadline
Before starting operations, the company must notify Tukes for supervision.
Processing time
Notification of operation of fire detection equipment and fire extinguishing equipment companies and qualification certificates; processing time 1–3 weeks Portable fire extinguisher companies’ notification of operation; processing time 1–2 weeks.
Period of validity
Fire detection equipment qualification certificate is valid for 3 years and qualification certificate in fire extinguishing equipment is valid for 5 years. Portable fire extinguisher companies’ qualification certificate is valid for 5 years.
