The installation and reparation of speed limitation devices of vehicles requires permission from Traficom.
An operator with permission for installation and reparation shall not install, adjust or repair speed limitation devices in vehicles owned or held by himself or herself. The prohibition does not apply to vehicles which are owned by a company trading in vehicles or by an importer of vehicles ...
Do the following
In the application, fill in the details of the person responsible for the installations, adjustments and repairs. The person responsible for the work must have a qualification or experience approved by the manufacturer of the speed limitation device (or a representative authorised by the manufacturer), the vehicle manufacturer (or a representative authorised by the manufacturer) or Traficom.
Specify in the application also the manufacturers to whose speed limitation devices the application applies. After obtaining permission, you are authorised to install and repair only those speed limitation devices whose manufacturers are specified in the licence.
In addition, attach the following documents to the application:
certificate of a course on the installation and reparation of speed limitation devices completed by the person responsible for the work
record of the inspection of the premises and equipment of your company performed by an expert authorised by Traficom.
If the installation, reparation or adjustment of a speed limitation device requires you to break the seal of the tachograph, apply also for permission for installation and reparation of tachographs that authorises you to re-seal the tachograph. To whom and on what terms
Permission for installation and reparation of speed limitation devices is granted if the applicant meets the following requirements:
the applicant is entered in the Finnish Business Information System
the applicant has at his or her disposal appropriate working facilities needed for carrying out installations and reparations
the applicant has at his or her disposal personnel with sufficient skills for carrying out installations and reparations
the applicant has at his or her disposal equipment needed for the operations and task instructions approved by the manufacturer of the speed limitation device (or a representative authorised by the manufacturer), the manufacturer of the vehicle (or a representative authorised by the manufacturer) or Trafi.

Deadline
Permission must be applied for before the launch of operations.
Processing time
Approximately one month.
Period of validity
The permission is valid until further notice.
