Background information

If, despite group-specific and individual support measures, a pupil is unable to successfully complete the basic education syllabus or meet the objectives set in the curriculum, it is possible to deviate from these requirements.

The curriculum objectives can be made into sets of objectives ranging in scope for the pupil. The pupil must complete the sets of objectives successfully to progress in the subject.

The syllabus or objectives of a subject can also be limited. This only applies to pupils who are in a small group led by a special education teacher or a special class teacher or in a special class led by a special class teacher as a pupil-specific support measure. Temporary exemptions from a subject are also possible if the pupil is unable to participate in teaching for health reasons.
