Home service for families with children

You can apply for home service digitally via DigiSoite’s Omapalvelu service.

Grounds for granting home service

• The family has children under the age of 18
• A parent of a child has a disability or a chronic illness
• A parent’s sudden illness or other crisis in the family
• A parent’s exhaustion
• A difficult situation in life
• Sudden life changes
• Guidance regarding care of and raising children
• Control over and strengthening the family’s everyday routines
• Supporting the family’s own ability to function when changes happen
• Supporting the interaction between parent and child when changes happen
• Supporting and guiding families who are at risk of marginalization
• A child’s injury and chronic illness

Home service is not granted in the following cases

• For the care of a child who has suddenly fallen ill if the parent has the right to stay at home to care for the child
• Only for cleaning
• For long-term daily care of a child
• Because of remote work, studies or hobbies
• When there is need of a personal assistant

Home services are available to families who need help and support in their everyday lives due to their life events. Home services may include meal, clothing care and cleaning services. Home services can also be used to support the care and upbringing of children and provide parenthood-related assistance.

A fee may be charged for home services based on the person’s income, the size of their family, and the amount of assistance needed.
