Home care is support given to the clients, helping them to cope in everyday life. Home care personnel will for example assist the client in wound care, carry out medical treatment safely, take blood tests, measure blood pressure, and help the clients with their personal hygiene. To whom and on what terms

Home care is available for persons who need help for example because of an illness, injury or a decreased ability to function. Home care is granted after an extensive assessment of the person’s service needs. A decision to grant or decline home care is made in writing. It is also possible to lodge an appeal against the decision.

Background information

Home care includes services provided at home and home nursing. Home services include care and nurture, supporting clients in coping with everyday life and maintaining their functional capacity. Home nursing consists of health and medical care services that are provided at the client’s home on a temporary basis for the treatment of their illness. If necessary, home care can be provided at all times of the day.

Home care client fees are influenced by, for example, the amount of care needed, the client's income and possible disability of a veteran.
