You can apply for English-language general upper secondary education leading to the matriculation examination via the Studyinfo service in the joint application to upper secondary education. The track has an entrance exam. More detailed criteria and application instructions can be found on the Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Languages web page.
You can be selected for English-language general upper secondary education if your language skills are not sufficient to complete general upper secondary education and the matriculation examination in Finnish or Swedish. Other criteria must also be met: you can be selected if you have been in comprehensive education in accordance with the Act on Primary and Lower Secondary Education for no more than three years. If you have moved to Finland for studies, you cannot be selected for English-language general upper secondary education. You are also required to have a sufficient command of the language of instruction, English.
The matriculation examination and general upper secondary education in English are not intended for persons arriving in Finland from third countries for the purpose of studying.
