You can be provided with detoxification if a health care professional assesses that you need treatment for the withdrawal symptoms that are caused by quitting intoxicants. Detoxification can only be provided if you are willing to stop using intoxicants.
Detoxification is primarily provided as an outpatient service. Detoxification can also take place in an institution, if a health care professional assesses that you need closer monitoring and round-the-clock care.
