Data system for forest reproductive material

The data system for forest reproductive material (MEVI) is an online service meant for suppliers of forest reproductive material. You can use it to

  • update the information in the forest reproductive material supplier register
  • make seed collection declarations
  • apply for master certificates and OECD certificates for forest reproductive material
  • report seed and sapling lots marketed for other EU countries.

You can register as a user of the forest reproductive material data system if you belong to the forest reproductive material supplier register. You can find registration instructions on the right side of the page.

With the help of the data system for forest reproductive material, the Finnish Food Authority monitors seeds’ chains of origin from a forest or seed cultivation of forest trees to an extracting station.

With the data system you can

  • maintain data from the forest reproductive material supplier register
  • accept seed collection declarations
  • issue master certificates and OECD certificates for forest reproductive material
  • control trade in forest reproductive material inside the EU’s internal market
  • provide online information and documents needed for planning and maintaining seed cultivation, for both basic material customers and Natural Resources Institute Finland
  • collect and report monitoring data.

You can apply for the user IDs of the forest reproductive data system from the Finnish Food Authority. You can find the registration instructions and a link to the MEVI data system on the Finnish Food Authority’s website.

To whom and on what terms

Access rights to the forest reproductive material data system are only granted to registered forest reproductive material suppliers. Registration in the forest reproductive material supplier register is done in writing using a form that can be found on the Finnish Food Authority’s website.

The service is free of charge.
