Regarding guidance and supervision duties related to compulsory education, the coordinator contacts the young person and their guardian based on notifications received from educational institutions. Such situations include when a young person has no study place after completing basic education or when secondary education is interrupted and no alternative study place is known.

The obligation of schools to report and the municipality’s responsibility for guidance are based on the Finnish Compulsory Education Act and apply to young people of compulsory education age.

Young people needing support during transition phases can also contact the compulsory education coordinator directly via email or phone.
