Compensation for organic production

You can apply for the five-year organic production commitment in the Vipu service when applying for field subsidies.

You can make an organic production commitment and receive compensation for it if

• you are an active farmer aged 18 or over
• you have at least five hectares of eligible arable area in cultivation or at least one hectare in horticulture
• you have completed the five-day organic training required for the organic production compensation
• you are part of the organic production control system throughout the commitment period.

You can receive compensation for organic domestic animal production if, in addition to the previous requirements,

• you have on average at least five livestock units of organically farmed production animals
• in addition to the five-day organic training required for the organic production compensation, you have completed a two-day training on domestic animal production
• you belong to the organic production control system for the animal species you are applying for, throughout the commitment period.

In addition, you may receive compensation for organic production for only some of the plots on the farm if

• you have made an organic production commitment for only part of the plots of the farm and you have at least one hectare of field vegetables in cultivation each year from the area of the partial commitment; and
• you have arranged other production in production units in accordance with the Organic Regulation.
