Infectious diseases are diagnosed and treated at health centres. Designated persons are responsible for the statutory control of communicable diseases and healthcare associated infections. They provide consultation, guidance and training for staff and work on outbreak detection and prevention. Food- and waterborne outbreaks are detected and handled in cooperation with the Finnish Environment Institute.
