How do I block a notification of move?

The fastest and easiest way to access the Block a notification of move service electronically is on the Personal Data page of the Suomi.fi web service at www.suomi.fi/your-data/personal-data. The use of Suomi.fi web service requires strong identification using Finnish bank identifiers or a mobile certificate.

If you do not have online bank user identifiers or a mobile certificate, you may block a notification of move by personally visiting an office of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. The matter can be dealt with at any of our offices.

A guardian requesting a block of a notification of move for a minor, must make the request in writing in connection with a personal visit. The request must include the consent of the other guardian and the minor aged 15-17, to enable the block of a notification of move.

  1. Go to Suomi.fi and sign in using your bank identifiers or mobile certificate.
  2. Click the Block a Notification of Move tab, and then check the Block a Notification of Move box.
  3. Click the Confirm Change button.

Cancel a Block on a notification of move

  1. Go to Suomi.fiOpens in a new tab and sign in using your bank identifiers or mobile certificate.
  2. Click the Block a Notification of Move tab, and then uncheck the Block a Notification of Move box.
  3. Click the Confirm Change button.

Also remember to request for the Moving Protection from Posti at posti.fi/en. This way, you will ensure that no one is able to submit a notification of move with your information through Posti, either.

How do I submit a notification of move if I have the Block a notification of move service?

If you submit a notification of move electronically or using a form, you must first cancel the block of a notification of move in the Suomi.fi web service. Once your notification of move has been processed, you can re-enable the service. With the same service, you can view your new address information on the Address Information tab, after your notification of move has been processed and the information is in the Population Information System.

Alternatively, you can submit a notification of move by visiting the Digital and Population Data Services Agency's office personally. During the visit, you must prove your identity, and tell that you have a block of a notification of move.

Who can request for the Block a notification of move service?

  • A fully empowered adult person requesting the block for yourself
  • A trustee requesting the block for your principal
  • A single parent requesting the block for you child
  • Guardians of a child in joint custody together requesting the block for your child
  • A 15-17-year-old minor requesting the block for yourself

A guardian of a 15-17-year-old child requesting the block for your child with the written consent of your child.
