Approval of a seasonal or type inspection station

Send a free-form application to the registry of the Finnish Food Authority (kirjaamo@ruokavirasto.fi) as well as the quality manual, instructions, forms in use and information on the currently used measuring instruments and their calibration reports.

Before you can start seasonal inspection activities, the Finnish Food Authority will inspect the site and determine the suitability of the inspection facilities for seasonal or type inspections.

• The seasonal or type inspection station must be qualified to perform official activities as stated in the Administrative Procedure Act (434/2003), and the inspection activities must be impartial and independent.
• The inspection station must have a quality system and a written up-to-date quality manual, which includes a description of the activities and work instructions with the necessary forms.
• The inspection station must have access to appropriate inspection and testing facilities that are in accordance with the instructions of the Natural Resources Institute Finland, as well as equipment suitable for the tests and inspections referred to in the ATP agreement.
• The measuring equipment and tools used in the inspections must be calibrated systematically and regularly, and the operator must keep a record of the calibrations.
• Inspections must be carried out by trained personnel whose qualifications and training are recorded.
• The seasonal inspection station must have a documented system for archiving the material collected from seasonal inspections. The material concerning an individual seasonal inspection must be kept for at least six years from the date of the inspection report. The material concerning interrupted inspections must also be kept for at least six years from the date when the inspection was recorded as interrupted.
