The Finnish Red Cross is one of Finland’s largest civic organisations. The Western Finland District is one of the twelve districts of the Finnish Red Cross, and its area of operation covers the regions of Central Finland, South Ostrobothnia, Ostrobothnia and Central Ostrobothnia. We care for those who find themselves in the most vulnerable situations. We provide help in times of crisis and emergency and support people of all ages when life becomes difficult. We encourage and train people to look after one another and take care of their health. In everything we do, we stand up for humanity and encourage people to recognise when others are in need. We also coordinate the activities of the Voluntary Rescue Service (Vapepa), helping to strengthen safety and a sense of community throughout our area of operation.
